BMW X3 M40i Performance SUV launched in India at Rs 86.5 lakh: 0-100 in just 4.9 seconds!

German luxury carmaker BMW today announced the launch of the BMW X3 M40i SUV at Rs 86.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The company opened the bookings for the SUV last month at Rs 5 lakh. The X3 M40i will be available in limited numbers and will be bought in India via CBU (completely built unit) route.

The X3 M40i is the performance-oriented version of the standard X3 SUV and shares its powertrain with the BMW M340i sedan. The X3 M40i gets an M-specific kidney grille painted with high-gloss black and with an M logo. The SUV gets adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function and it also gets a dark tint around the headlamps with aerodynamically optimised M exterior mirrors painted in gloss black.

The BMW X3 M40i gets 20-inch M light alloy wheels wrapped up in 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40 R20 at the rear. The SUV also gets M Sport brakes with red brake callipers.

The X3 M40i gets an all-black interior with carbon fibre-trim finishes and it gets an M-specific steering wheel, M-specific seat belts and an M badge in the centre console. The SUV features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with BMW’s iDrive 7 operating system and it also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, triple-zone climate control, Gesture control, 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, 464W 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system and a heads-up display. It also gets steering wheel paddle shifters, cruise control with braking function and Automatic differential brakes (ADB) with electronic differential locks as standard.

Talking about the powertrain, the X3 M40i is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine which produces 360hp of power and 500Nm torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW claims the SUV can sprint from 0-100 in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kph. Driving modes include COMFORT/ECO PRO/SPORT/SPORT+.

Safety features include six airbags, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with brake assist, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, Dynamic braking lights and ISOFIX child seat mounting.
