Every vehicle requires regular maintenance to perform on the road optimally. Plus, It will help you keep your car in good condition throughout its entire service life. Each manufacturing company establishes a specific order and frequency of maintenance for its models. So, let’s review the rules and maintenance schedules for Honda

General Maintenance Guide
To maximize the service life of your vehicle, it is essential to have it serviced promptly. While these are only the general rules, you should study the owner’s manual to get recommendations specific to your model.

Overall, there are two types of maintenance:

  • Daily: It is the most frequent but also the quickest one. Check the condition and performance of all vehicle elements daily, particularly the speedometer and other gauges on the dashboard, the brake system, steering, headlights, and other signaling devices. Daily maintenance also includes washing the body and cleaning the interior.

  • Seasonal and scheduled maintenance: These two processes are more complex and, therefore, should be carried out by highly qualified professionals with specialized diagnostic and repair equipment. Maintenance tasks completed here are pretty time-consuming.

Regular maintenance consists of the following stages:

  • Diagnosing car condition: Specialists check all elements for serviceability and operability.

  • Gearbox and engine replacement: Failure to do this on time will cause mechanisms to lose their resistance to wear and tear.

  • Oil filter inspection and replacement: The filters require periodic cleaning and replacement

  • Brake fluid replacement: The fluid is necessary to prevent the corrosion of parts. Failure to replace it on time can cause the incorrect operation of the braking system due to excessive moisture in the fluid.

  • Coolant change: If not done regularly, your engine may overheat.

  • Spark plugs replacement: This should also be done periodically to keep the vehicle running correctly.

  • Technicians also replace brake pads, GMR belts, chains, and drive belts, perform diagnostic work, and do injector maintenance.

    Maintenance Schedule
The schedule involves prompt maintenance, albeit with specific recommendations and tasks depending on mileage. The time intervals between car maintenance and car age may also influence the schedule. However, generally, no matter the terms, the schedule provided below applies to all cars and models in equal measure.

    Every 7,500, 22,500, 37,500, 52,500, 67,500, And 82,500 Miles

    • Check and replace fluids
    • Rotate tires
    • Inspect brakes
    • Change oil and filter
    • Inspect tire pressure and treads
    • Lubricate throttle linkage

    Every 15,000, 45,000, 75,000, And 105,000 Miles

    • Lubricate the chassis and all hinges
    • Balance and rotate wheels
    • Inspect undercarriage
    • Check struts and shocks
    • Check and adjust the clutch pedal
    • Replace the oil drain plug and gasket
    • Replace windshield wipers
    • Replace spark plugs
    • Inspect A/C and heater operation
    • Inspect fuel systems
    • Inspect differential oil
    • Inspect brake hoses and linings
    • Replace the air conditioning filter
    • Service transmission
    • Check the parking brake
    • Retorque drive shaft
    • Inspect interior and exterior lamps
    • Inspect the steering gearbox, steering systems, and steering wheel
    • Conduct a road test

    Maintenance At Severe Driving Conditions
The severe duty conditions include the following:

    • Constant short trips of less than 5 miles
    • Continuous short trips of less than 10 miles with outside temperatures remaining below freezing
    • Operating in hot weather during rush hour
    • Prolonged idling and/or low-speed driving for long distances (applies to police, taxi services, or door-to-door delivery)
    • Driving in dusty conditions
    • Driving on rough, muddy, or salty roads
    • Trailer towing with an RV or motor carrier

If you drive your vehicle primarily in harsh conditions, as shown above, more frequent maintenance should be performed on the following parts and car elements:

  • Change brake fluid every 10,000 miles or 12 months
  • Check brake pads and rotors every 5,000 miles or six months
  • Check steering, padding, axle parts, and suspension every 5,000 miles or six months
  • Check the PTO shaft (AWD) with the driveshaft every 5,000 miles or six months
  • Check the exhaust system every 5,000 miles or six months

Summary
The driver's and passengers' safety depends on the car's technical condition. So, it’s crucial to perform maintenance promptly and diligently. It involves periodically looking into the owner’s manual and closely following the maintenance schedule recommended by Honda. When doing things this way, you ensure a piece of mind for yourself and your passengers, as the vehicle may remain roadworthy beyond its average service life.
